Former S.F. Giants Star Buster Posey Buys Beautiful Bay Area Abode for $8.3M – Realtor.com News
Buster Posey, the three-time World Series-winning catcher for the San Francisco Giants, quietly scooped up a sweet Lafayette, CA, property in 2023 for $8.3 million.
The former All-Star has spent the years following his abrupt MLB retirement making a cross-country U-turn.
After departing the Giants after the 2021 season and heading home to Georgia, he sold a different home in the town of Lafayette for $7.5 million. He also unloaded his 106-acre ranch in Northern California shortly after.
But while in Georgia, Posey bought into the Giants ownership group and decided he missed the Bay Area. So he sold his $3.9 million Georgia pad last year.
His most recent purchase is a single-level home with six bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, and over 6,300 square feet. According to records, the house last changed hands in 1994, when it was snapped up for $1,317,000. Lafayette is a desirable suburb: The median list home price there is $2.1 million, while the median price per square foot is $905.
Single-level stunner
This ranch-style home is bursting with space and character.
The carved front doors lead into a large foyer with fossil-stone floors and skylights. Further inside is the combination living room, kitchen, and dining area, which boasts pitched ceilings, recessed lighting, and European oak floors.
The living room has a modern fireplace and built-in wood shelves, while the kitchen is nicely outfitted with dual center islands and stainless steel appliances. Meals can be served in the dining area, which has a wall of windows that lead out to the backyard.
Beautiful backyard
Sophisticated details such as curved, built-in desks; sleek en suite bathrooms; and bay windows lend an upscale feel to the bedrooms. There’s also an executive office and a separate, one-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse.
Out back, there’s a covered cabana, an in-ground pool, a pool bath, spa, and craft room.
And entertaining is easy with the outdoor barbecue kitchenette, tennis court, and fire pit.
Nature lovers will appreciate the manicured gardens, mature fruit trees, and wisteria-covered walkways. Plus, professional lighting illuminates the backyard spaces.
Posey, 36, made his MLB debut in 2009 with the San Francisco Giants and spent his entire 12-year career with the team. He was a seven-time All-Star and a five-time Silver Slugger.
